Daniel Castorena

Daniel Castorena is an 18 year-old senior violist attending Humble High School in Humble, Texas. He first started playing the violin at the age of 13, but then switched to viola at the age of 16. Some of his notable accomplishments include being a member of the Houston Youth Symphony, a three-time Principal Violist in the TMEA Region 33 Symphony Orchestra, a two-time TMEA All-State Orchestra member, and most recently being invited to participate in Carnegie Hall’s 2021 National Youth Orchestra 2 program (NYO2) in New York City. He currently studies with Andrew McCallum and Elyse Catoe. Aside from music, Daniel enjoys playing on his school’s varsity tennis team, going on drives, and hanging out with friends. Daniel plans on pursuing Viola Performance at the university level after he graduates.
