Shayla Nguyen

Shayla Nguyen, 17, has been studying violin for 6 years since the age of 11, and is in her first season with Virtuosi of Houston. She plans to continue her studies of violin into college. Her current teacher is Mr. Matthew Madonia. She is a senior at William B Travis High school and is the Principal Second violin of the symphony orchestra under the direction of Mrs. Sabrina Behrens. In March of 2019, she performed in the Disney Performing Arts Workshop and in the Texas Association of School Boards FBISD performance in September of 2021. She has earned placement in the second violin section of the 2017-2020 TMEA All-Region 13 Philharmonic orchestra. She has also consistently won superior ratings on both solos and ensembles during the 2017-2020 UIL Solo and Ensemble competitions. In her free time, she enjoys drawing, painting, listening to music, and playing the cello and piano.
