Maureen Min

Maureen Min, 12, is in the 7th grade at Memorial Middle School. She began playing violin at the age of 6 in the Frostwood Fiddler program. She currently studies with Dr. Mauricio Oliveros, and has previously studied with Padua Canty and Katie Hemphill. She is in the Chamber Orchestra at Memorial Middle School under the direction of Ms. Megan Saavedra and Ms. Bethany Prindle. She has performed in several recitals and participated in the Sewanee Summer Music Festival for music composition with Dr. Jorge Variego in 2020. She played in the Houston Youth Symphony 2018-2020. Last year, Maureen played in the Symphony Orchestra for TMEA Region 27 and received Outstanding Performance at the Texas UIL Solo and Ensemble contest. In addition to violin, she has played piano since age 4, winning multiple awards including 1st place in the HMTA piano contest in February 2016 and the HMTA Winners Contest in May 2016. Maureen also enjoys taking vocal lessons and playing tennis.
