Mary Kathryn Gibson
Mary Kathryn Gibson, 15, is a sophomore homeschooled student who has been playing violin since the age of four. She is currently studying with Houston Symphony violinist Rodica Gonzalez. She has earned recognition for her musician-ship as a Symphony League of Beaumont Outstanding Young Performer, and has previously won placement in the All-Region 19 Orchestra, most recently this year (2021). She is from a musical family, with two of Mary Kathryn’s five musical siblings being former Virtuosi concertmasters. She enjoys cooking and currently prepares all of the meals for her family. An avid and competitive runner, Mary Kathryn has competed with multiple track teams in the Houston area and has broken state, national, and world records. These victories have led her to the Junior Olympic Games multiple time since the age of eight. She plans to continue reaching high
to achieve her goals, both in music and in running.
