Daphne Chen

Daphne Chen, 15, is a sophomore at Memorial High School under the band direction of Suzanne Scott and Jeffery Munger. She has been playing oboe for 5 years and piano for 7. Daphne currently studies under Dr. Anne Leek, and past instructors include Xiaodi Liu and Leah Williams. She has earned a position in TMEA Region Band every year since 6th grade as well as outstanding ratings of 1 for every performance in the Texas UIL Solo and Ensemble contest. During the pandemic Daphne served as a mentor for middle school students. She also frequently volunteers to perform at local nursing homes and has performed in various occasions at Tallwood church. Outside of band, she enjoys running her art business, participating in clubs, volunteering, and spending time with friends and family. She is very excited to be a part of Virtuosi this year.
