Vanae Alyssa Schunk

Vanae has been playing the violin for the past 8 years, beginning at the age of 6. She has competed over the past several years in the Excellence Music Open Competition of Taiwan and the Taiwan Music Competition, regularly placing 3rd and 4th in her age group, and was a member of the Sounds Good youth orchestra in Taipei. She is currently studying with Ms. Cindy Ahn, a Rice University alumnus having studied with Mr. Paul Kantor. Her favorite composer is J. S. Bach, the transcendent Chaconne from his Partita no. 2 in D minor being a part of her repertoire.

Vanae is currently attending the 8th grade at First Colony Middle School in Sugar Land. She is a fluent Chinese speaker, an avid reader, and enjoys swimming and bicycling in her free time.
