Sarah Hall
Sarah Hall, 15, is a sophomore at Cypress Ranch High School in her fourth year with Virtuosi. Sarah began playing the violin at age six with Chaiwat Rodsuwan, then studied under Caroline Ewan for five years, during which time she transitioned to viola. She now studies with Ivo-Jan van der Werff, viola faculty at the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University. She is currently principal violist in her school’s chamber orchestra under the direction of Elizabeth Ledford, and earned placement as principal violist in her region orchestra last year. Outside of school orchestra, Sarah has been involved in other string opportunities such as the American Festival of the Arts (AFA) Chamber Music Academy and summer festival, Houston Youth Symphony, and Sewanee Summer Music Festival. In eighth grade, Sarah also began studying bassoon with Rachel Roberman, achieving region placement, and additionally now plays euphonium with the high school marching band under the direction of Alex Denton, Zachary Fink, Timothy Greene, and Benjamin Adams. Other instruments she has played include cello, clarinet, bass clarinet, and trumpet.
