Lucas Velasquez

Lucas Velasquez is a 17 year-old senior at Cypress Ranch High School. This will be his fourth season with Virtuosi of Houston. He has been playing the cello for 7 years, currently studying with Mrs. Wendy Butler of the Houston Ballet Orchestra. He has also played piano for 6 years. Lucas has participated in the 2017 Virtuosi of Houston summer workshop and was a member of Region 27 Sym-phony Orchestra for his 8th grade year. His hobbies include karting, playing games, and folding paper airplanes. What he enjoys the most is anything about planes, from early propeller-propelled to modern jets. He admires how each aircraft was built and how it fulfills its purpose. In the future he aims to become a commercial pilot. Having been influenced from his first experience on a plane early in life, he hopes to bring that same experience to others.
