Dyer McLeod

Dyer McLeod, age 16, is a sophomore at Legacy Academy. This is his second season with Virtuosi after placing 4th in the 23rd annual Virtuosi Concerto Competition. Dyer began playing violin at 4 years old.  He studied with Lauren Kossler of the Winston Salem Symphony. He is a member of the Symphony Orchestra at Houston Youth Symphony (HYS) under Dr. Michael Webster. Dyer received an Honorable Mention at HYS 2022 competition. Dyer studies privately with Dr. Matt Lammers from the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University. At the Michael P. Hammond Preparatory Program at Rice, he studies solo performance and music theory. Dyer also leads a quartet in the Opus 1 Chamber Music School. After a summer with the American Festival for the Arts in 2021, he attended the Interlochen Arts Festival in 2022 as an Orchestral Scholar. He enjoyed playing in the World Youth Symphony Orchestra, chamber, solo, and orchestral performances. During his time at Interlochen, Dyer studied with amazing musicians and conductors from around the world, and shared the stage with members of the Detroit Symphony while at Interlochen. Dyer enjoys playing golf both competitively and casually with his family. His other activities include water fowl hunting and fishing with his friends and family.
