Madeleine Hearn
Madeleine Hearn, 17, is a senior attending Northland Christian School, under the orchestral direction of Kelly Hearn. She began playing the cello at the age of 8. Madeleine currently studies with Donna Rogers and Maki Kubota, and has previously studied with Hyeok Kwon and Alex Pancheri. In past summers, Madeleine has attended Kinhaven, the American Festival for the Arts (Principal cellist 2021), and UTA Summer Strings, where she was Principal cellist for 2 years and received the Jenifer Lenin Scholarship. She has also participated in the TMEA All-State Symphony and Philharmonic Orchestras, has been the Principal cellist of the TMEA Region 33 Symphony Orchestra for three consecutive years, and is a 5-year TPSMEA All-Stater, where she earned the position of first stand for 4 out of the 5 years and was awarded the TPSMEA Thayne Tolle Scholarship. Madeleine recently received recognition at the 2023 Clear Lake Concerto Competition, and is looking forward to participating in more musical activities in college. In her free time, Madeleine enjoys being a part of Houston Youth Symphony and playing varsity volleyball and basketball at her school.
