Luis Urdaneta
Mentoring Houston's youth through orchestral excellence
Luis Urdaneta is an 18-year-old Venezuelan violinist who comes from El Sistema National Orchestra in Maracaibo, Venezuela. He started playing when he was 6 years old in 2010, and since then has been playing famous orchestral works like Mahler’s First Symphony and as a soloist as well, playing works like the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto . But his musical career did not take off until he got to the United States, where he was welcomed by his high school teacher, who donated a violin so he could continue his musical studies. During his time here, he has made the All-Region orchestra all four years of high school, and he recently made the Symphony All-State Orchestra. He is also part of the Houston Youth Symphony and has gone to multiple competitions like the UIL Contest as a soloist, quartet member, and chamber group player. He loves playing for others and is also looking to major in music as a performer and teacher.
