Educating Houston's youth through orchestral excellence

Amber Archibald-Sešek, DMA

Dr. Amber Archibald-Sešek’s relationship with Virtuosi of Houston spans three decades. She performed as a student musician during the 1995–1996 season, and returned in 2026 as a guest artist for Virtuosi’s 30th Anniversary Concert.

A violist, educator, and proud Houston native, Dr. Archibald-Sešek holds degrees from Indiana University, Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music, and the University of Washington (DMA). Her performing career has taken her to the stages of the Seattle Symphony, Houston Symphony, Houston Grand Opera, Mercury Chamber Orchestra, and ROCO, among others.

Since returning to Houston in 2021 after 13 years in Seattle, she has rejoined the city’s musical life in full. She joined the University of Houston faculty in 2023 as Professor of Practice for Viola, and together with her husband, violinist Ervin Luka Sešek, co-directs the Sešek String Studio in Sugar Land. Her commitment to youth music education has also taken her to the inaugural LA Philharmonic YOLA Summer Festival under Gustavo Dudamel and faculty posts at the Sewanee Summer Music Festival and the Burgos International Music Festival in Spain.
