Oliver Tran, Double Bass

Oliver is a dedicated double bassist with six years of performance experience, currently studying under Andrew Moritz. A senior at Jersey Village High School, he performs in the JVHS Chamber Orchestra directed by Matthew Beland and the JVHS Jazz Band under Dr. Ryan Williams.

Oliver has twice earned a coveted seat in the TMEA All-State Orchestra (2024, 2025) and has received top honors at UIL Solo and Ensemble competitions for five consecutive years. In the summer of 2025, he attended the Boston University Tanglewood Institute Double Bass Workshop and Young Artists Orchestra, studying with Ira Gold, Virtuosi alum and Double Bass Professor at the Johns Hopkins Peabody Institute.

Beyond the stage, Oliver is preparing to pursue double bass performance in college, balancing essays, rehearsals, and auditions with time spent cheering for Houston’s hometown teams and enjoying moments with his family.
