McKenna Alise Petersen

McKenna Petersen, 11 years old, is from Fulshear, TX. She attended her first Suzuki “baby” class at 6 months of age and began her study of the violin at age 3 with Danette Warren Schuh. She currently studies with Dr. Mauricio Oliveros. McKenna is a sixth grader at James W. Roberts Middle School where she sings in choir and helps with beginning orchestra. She is a member of Houston Youth Symphony’s Philharmonia under the direction of Michael Isadore. In 2023, McKenna performed with the Houston Civic Symphony as the winner of the Young Artists Competition Junior Division. She has attended Institutes in Oregon, Tennessee, and Texas. McKenna is also a National Champion Fiddler. She holds state titles in Colorado, Kentucky, and Oklahoma and won her division at the National Old Time Fiddlers Association Contest in 2022. She enjoys spending time with friends, reading, swimming and rock climbing.
