Austin Aguilar

Austin Aguilar, age sixteen, began playing the trumpet afterschool in the fifth grade as part of the Jack Elementary School (Tyler, TX) trumpet choir taught by Jerry Miller. In the sixth and seventh grade he attended Caldwell Arts Academy (Tyler,TX) where he studied the violin under the direction of Philip Rumbly. In eighth grade Austin returned to the trumpet as part of the York Junior High School (Spring, TX) Concert IV Band, under the direction of Amanda Pritchard and trumpet lessons teacher Noah Adams. During his Freshman year at Oak Ridge High School (ORHS), Austin performed in a brass ensemble at the Midwest clinic (Chicago, IL). As a Sophomore, Austin performed with the ORHS Wind Ensemble under the direction of Jerriald Dillard, achieving the Mark of Excellence National Wind Honors award and securing an honor performance at the 2025 TMEA Allstate clinic/convention. Austin is now a trumpet section leader in his Junior year performing in the 24/25 ORHS Wind Ensemble. Austin is a member of ACES (the Academy for Careers in Engineering and Science), the ORHS UIL Mathematics Club, and the Marketing VP of DECA. Austin has attended the UH Honor band camp and the Houston Space City Brass Camp.
