Eliza Smith
Mentoring Houston's youth through orchestral excellence
Eliza (15) is a sophomore at Westside High School where she is studying health science and is the principal violist of the Westside Varsity Orchestra. Eliza studies piano with Richard Marshall in the Rice Preparatory School of Music. She has won many awards in HMTA piano events and was a Houston Young Artist Finalist. She placed second in the 2024 TMTA Piano Duet Competition. Eliza studies viola and violin with Meredith Harris. She was a member of the 2023 All- Region Orchestra as a violinist and the 2024 All-Region Orchestra as a violist. She was also selected as a violist for the 2025 BYU Music Summer Festival Philharmonic Orchestra and the BYU Recording Studio Chamber Orchestra. She has played in numerous quartets and ensembles around Houston and enjoys performing for the community. Eliza serves as a church accompanist and music coordinator. She has three older brothers and one younger sister and enjoys playing music with her family.
