Arjun Chandupatla
Mentoring Houston's youth through orchestral excellence
Arjun Chandupatla (17), a rising senior at Tompkins High School, has been playing violin for over eight years, under the guidance of Mr. Guangxun Hua and piano with Dr. Winnie Fan. He is an active member of Tompkins High School orchestra under the direction of Mr. Matthew Porter and Ms. Sarah Marts. A dedicated musician, Arjun has performed in the TMEA All-State Symphony Orchestra for three years. Arjun has been a violinist at Houston Youth Symphony since 2018, and has recently been named the co- winner of HYS 2025 Concerto Competition string division. He was also the concertmaster of the 2024 All-Region 23 Symphony Orchestra, an honorable mention at the 2023 Clear Lake Symphony Youth Concerto Competition, a winner of the 2023 and 2024 Katy Young Artist Competition, and a finalist at the 2021 Houston International Music Competition. Arjun is also an accomplished pianist and an avid chamber musician, with his string quartet named State Champion at the 2025 UIL State Chamber Music Competition. Aside from music, he is an outstanding student, origami enthusiast, bird watcher, and an avid reader.
