Elizabeth Priestly Siffert
Mentoring Houston's youth through orchestral excellence
Elizabeth Priestly Siffert has been Principal Oboist of the Houston Grand Opera Orchestra and the Houston Ballet Orchestra since 2008. A Virtuosi of Houston alumna and graduate of the Eastman School of Music, she was the first and one of the only students in the school’s history to earn two Performer’s Certificates as an undergraduate.
She has appeared frequently as a soloist with orchestras including the Rochester Philharmonic, the Houston Ballet Orchestra, and the Orchestra of Saint Luke’s, and made her European solo debut with the Orquestra Clássica da Madeira. Her former positions include second oboe of the Binghamton Philharmonic, co-principal oboe of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Minería, and principal oboe of the Orquestra Clássica da Madeira.
A winner of the Eastman Concerto Competition and second-prize winner of the Fernand Gillet–Hugo Fox Competition, she has been a headlining soloist at the International Double Reed Society conference and plays exclusively on Lorée oboes.
