Beatriz Macias, flutist

Beatriz Macias is a Mexican-American flutist and soprano celebrated for the voice-like beauty of her tone and her versatility across the classical and operatic repertoire. She made her solo debut at age eighteen at D.A.R. Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C., and was named a Young Performing Artist by the Yamaha Corporation of America.

A Virtuosi of Houston alumna, she has held the Principal Flute position of the Luxembourg Chamber Orchestra and performed with orchestras including the Frankfurt Radio Orchestra, Rotterdam Philharmonic, Luxembourg Philharmonic, Tampere Philharmonic, Qatar Philharmonic, the Dutch National Ballet & Opera Orchestra, and the Houston Symphony.

She is the founder and artistic director of the Tampere Flute Fest in Finland and tours with the Spanish opera program “Lo Mejor de la Zarzuela!” She trained at the Boston Conservatory and the Royal Conservatory of Brussels.
