Oliver Tran
Mentoring Houston's youth through orchestral excellence
Oliver Tran is a Virtuosi of Houston alumnus and double bassist from Houston, Texas. A graduate of Jersey Village High School, he earned a seat in the TMEA All-State Orchestra for 2024, 2025, 2026, and received top honors at UIL Solo and Ensemble competitions for five consecutive years. In the summer of 2025, he attended the Boston University Tanglewood Institute Double Bass Workshop and Young Artists Orchestra, studying with Ira Gold, Virtuosi alum and Double Bass Professor at the Johns Hopkins Peabody Institute. In the fall of 2026, Oliver will begin his studies at The Juilliard School in New York City under bassist Rex Surany.
