Rowan Wilson

Rowan, 15, is a sophomore at Obra Tompkins High School and has been playing the oboe for 6 years. She also studies piano with Lora Taylor. Rowan is the principle oboist in Wind Symphony and Full Orchestra, under the direction of Stephen Bond and Matthew Porter; she is also a member of the marching band. She is in her second year with the Houston Youth Symphony and previously played with the Katy Youth Symphony. Rowan has participated in numerous summer music programs, most notably a merit scholar at Rocky Ridge Junior Artist Seminar studying with Jason Lichtenwalter of the Colorado Symphony. In JH she placed 7th and then 1st in region and as a freshman placed 3rd in All Region, and 10th in 6A Area. She also participated in Region Bands and Orchestras. Rowan is currently taking lessons from Andrew Glenn, Dr. Abby Held and Adam Dinitz of the Houston Symphony.
