Jose Enriquez

Jose Enriquez, 17, started playing the cello at 11 while in 5th grade. He is a senior and principal cellist at Conroe High School studying under the direction of Kristen Stilley. He studies privately with Daniel Saenz, Assistant Professor of Cello at Sam Houston State University, and Louis-Marie Fardet, Cellist of the Houston Symphony. From 2013 to 2016, Jose has attended Daniel Saenz’s annual All-State Strings Camp. This past summer, he attended the Summer Music Conservatory at Sam Houston State University, where he competed as a soloist and played in a cello trio. In addition to music camps, Jose also partcipates in the Academy of Science and Health Profession’s Freshman Orientation and Leadership Workshop and Conroe ISD Leadership Conference’s. In State Solo and Ensemble competition Jose has received 3 division “1.” From 2013–present, he has been qualified as a cellist in Region IX Philharmonic and Symphony Orchestras; 2015–2017, Jose placed top 3 in the region consecutively. As well as music, Jose has studied Mandarin Chinese for 3 years, is the president of the Conroe chapter of Chinese National Honor Society, a member of Mu Alpha Theta, Conroe’s Young Republicans, a multitude of volunteer clubs, Student Council and the school’s Engineering and Design Competition Robotics Team in which he placed 4th overall in the district.
