Andrew Cliburn is 16 years old and has played the clarinet since he was 12. He is a sophomore at Langham Creek High School and second chair in the Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Gloria Ramirez. For the past three years, Andrew has made region band and went to area competition his freshman year. He received superior ratings for each UIL solo and ensemble contest that he’s participated in from grades 7–9. Andrew previously attended private instruction from Jo Lena Dial and currently works with Houston Symphony member Alexander Potiomkin. In Spring 2016, Andrew and his band had the honor of performing in Carnegie Hall. His hobbies include volunteering with Meals on Wheels and serving the citizens of Brookwood Community. Andrew also plays ultimate frisbee and enjoys conducting. He plans on pursuing a degree in music to follow his passion of helping others with music education.
