Travis Gibson

Travis Gibson is a 14 year old
homeschool student from Nederland,
Texas. He started playing the violin when
he was 3 and has twice been named
the Symphony League of Beaumont
Outstanding Young Performer in their
annual string competition. He has
spent two summers in Maine at the
New England Music Camp under the
tutelage of Mary Ann Tortalano and
Julia Neckermann and participated as
the first violinist for one of their many
learning quartets. Travis was recently
named concertmaster of the Region X
All-Region Orchestra for 2014–2015
and has made region orchestra for 2016
and 2017. He is an avid and competitive
runner and runs USATF and AAU with
Track Houston qualifying for regional,
state, and national meets in both track,
cross country, and indoor track. This
past summer, he won 6th at the Junior
Olympics in the 3000m. He also ran
the Beaumont Gusher half marathon
and won the 2017 Pleasure Island 10k.
Travis has a sister, Mary Kathry, and
four brothers Joseph, Peter, Daniel and
Jonas. The latter two of whom were
both concertmasters for Virtuosi. Travis
is currently under the tutelage of Aggie
In of Beaumont, Texas and Houston
Symphony member Rodica Gonzalez.
