Priya Fink is a junior at HSPVA and has played the flute since age 8. She has attended musical summer camps including Houston Floot Fire, Baylor University’s Summer Flute Seminar, and Interlochen Arts Camp. Priya received the Texas Music Scholar award her freshman year. That same year, she placed first in the junior division of Houston Flute Club’s Young Artist competition, and 1st in Houston Flute Club’s Flute Fest competition. She received honorable mention in the same competition in 6th and 8th grade. Additionally, she advanced to UIL solo and ensemble state competition and received the rating of a 1 (superior) and received the outstanding performer award at this competition in 9th and 10th grades. She has played in All Region Band since 7th grade. Ema Armanious is her flute teacher and her band director is Stephen Crawford. Priya enjoys playing in her school orchestra and band. In her sophomore year, Priya won first place in the senior winds category of the Clear Lake Concerto Competition and got the chance to play her concerto with the Clear Lake Symphony as a soloist. She enjoys running and being with her friends in the small amount of time that she’s not cramming for a test or completing homework and school projects.
