Elizabeth Grahn

Elizabeth Grahn is 15 years old and is
currently a sophomore at Klein Collins
High School. She began playing trumpet
at 11 years of age. Over the past years,
Elizabeth has made 8th and 9th grade
region orchestra and received excellent
ratings in the 2015 and 2016 UIL Solo
and Ensemble Contests. In the 2017
UIL competition, Elizabeth received
scores of “Excellent Outstanding” on
both solo and ensemble — enabling
her to travel to the University of Texas
State competition where she received
high ratings on both performances.
Under the direction of Chris Rugila
and Carlos Lara, the orchestra qualified
for BOA this year and Elizabeth will
be traveling to Indianapolis to perform
with the ensemble in 2018. During
spring break of 2017, Elizabeth and the
Klein Collins Band traveled to Disney
World, via invitation, for a performance
at Downtown Disney. In addition to
marching/concert band, Elizabeth is a
part of her schools’ Jazz Band, HOSA,
Key Club, GT, Math Club, and spends
her free time volunteering and playing
with her dog, Harley. Elizabeth spent a
week volunteering during post-Harvey
cleanup efforts to assist in home demo/
cleanup for deserving individuals that lost
their home during the hurricane flooding.
